Back Wood Scientist in Motion

Everyone has discussed theories before with peers, family, and friends; but take a look at what this "back wood scientist" has to say about oil and peak oil.  He is off his rocker!

This movie is a prime example of bad science communication.  His theory has no supporting evidence, and he does not discuss about thermal maturity of petroleum.  There are many issues with this video, and I hope most of them are evident to you as well, raising multiple red flags.

  1. So, I admit to not watching the whole 8 minutes. That music is making me nuts. And he does seem particularly wacky (which may, paradoxically, be something that keeps people watching him, to see what bizarreness he'll do next). But when you just assume we see problems with the video from a technical perspective, you're not doing good science communication, either. Things that are obvious to you as a PE may not be obvious at all to the rest of us. So we'll remember his nonsense, because it's weird, and we won't remember your points, because you didn't make any.

I also have to wonder if he's just being deiberately provocative, but I didn't look him up to find out :).
